The Valencic Family Newsletter

 The July 18th, 2004 version...

Well, not much new here.  Again.  We've been busy though!

We had an ultrasound on July 12th, and a dr. appointment July 15th, there's only one baby in there (phew).  Everything looks great!  To find out more and SEE our coming attraction, click on baby 6's site HERE

Tom and I went to the Washington D.C. temple on July 17th for a stake temple trip.  It was awesome!  We also submitted over 100 names for family file and will need help getting the work done.  We'll keep you updated!  The kids (and the babysitter) survived without us.

We are busy busy busy with our branch!  Lots of happenings, stake and local, and we are getting an education as to what it means to live in a branch AND to be married to (or have for a father) a member of the branch presidency.  The kids and I have been going to the summer reading program at the library we have a card for, and the kids love being a part of a library again.  We missed it.   Homeschooling has slowed down a bit for the summer, but not a whole lot.  Just more play outside when it's good weather and quiet inside times when it's wet or too hot.

Tom is working hard, and his job is going well!  He has plans on how to be eligible for promotion while doing the best he can with the great stores he has.  We have been blessed.  The only frustration we have is that commission is taxed very high, and is not eligible for exemption or reduction... ah well, so we see our taxes again in February/March hehe.

I am just busy being the Mom!  And my calling, and learning with my 4 wonderful kids.  It is so rewarding to be a mother, and with them all the time.  I love it!  I still find time (lately) to scrapbook, play viola and violin, and maybe sew, too.  Oh, and of course read lol.

Michael has turned into a Harry Potter fanatic.  He loves to read the books, and just finished book 3 tonight.  He loves sharing an interest with Mom and Dad (we both love reading the Harry Potter books) and just figured out that it's faster to read them himself than be read to.  We talk about what is happening in the books and what he doesn't understand, which truly isn't much anymore when it comes to words.  We told him we'd take him to the movie for book 3 when he finished reading it, but it has left our area and he understands now that we'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.  He also loves learning about musical instruments, money, and well, almost anything lately.  His page is here.

Benjamin also is loving Harry Potter right along with Michael, but just for play.  We are learning how to read, and he recognizes quite a few words but it frustrates him that he can't read EVERYTHING yet.  He is a whiz with numbers and amazes me every day.  He loves to be friendly and take care of his siblings, but it has been difficult lately when Emilie doesn't want close attention and Nathanael is being an independent little bugger.  We get through each day learning patience! :)  He loves riding his bike, running, jumping, and helping, as well as playing anything Harry Potter, and finding new friends.  His page is here.

Emilie is our princess.  She is constantly dressing up, finding princess books, and attempting to be a princess.  She also is interested in Harry Potter because the boys are, though some parts of the movies scare her and she doesn't want to hear about the scary parts in the books.  So she plays Hermione and dances through her days.  She also plays Mom, Sister, Baby, and tries to get Nathanael to play whatever she is playing but it just doesn't work.  Sometimes she loves Nathanael following her around, sometimes it's just plain annoying to her and she'd rather he stop.  She is getting really good at computer games and writing her own name.  Her page is here.

Nathanael is walking everywhere, has mastered the stairs, and is babbling a mile a minute.  He isn't saying much that is understandable, but he likes saying "mama" and "meemee" and Tom got him to say "Baby".  He is still blonde but we can't figure out what color his eyes are.  Everyone says they are brown, but they are more dark grey to me...  He has 12 teeth, likes eating just about anything, and has started to become attached to one of his blankets.  His page is here.  (it needs updating!)

Have a great day!
