Mom found out on accident on March 10th, 2006.
She went to the doctor March 9th for double ear infections and tonsillitis and the doctor wanted to know if she was possibly pregnant... and Mom said well, maybe. The doctor showed so much concern about prescribing safe medicine and telling Mom what precautions to take, she decided to test the next day... and here I come, ready or not!
She keeps saying she never has found out this early before, whatever that means.

The doctor appt March 16th (5 weeks) went well, they actually had made a mistake over the phone and Mom was not supposed to come in until Friday, but they made room for her anyways. So, now Mom is thrilled for the opportunity to go get some blood work drawn before the next appointment. The exam was pretty normal, the doctor recognized Mom from last time. We're low risk other than Mom having had more than the usual number of children. Blood pressure is on the high end, but there were no comments about it. We'll see if Dad can come to the ultrasound appointment on April 6th.

April 6th (8 weeks) doctor appt went well. We didn't have to wait long at all. Dad was able to come. Blood pressure was high again and Mom gained some weight. Everything looks great and I'm right on for my due date. The ultrasound agreed with the doctor's assessment, so no change to the due date. Mom is having normal symptoms, so the doctor gave some advice about nausea and fatigue. I have a very strong little heartbeat, so everything is good there. Here's a picture of me, but I really don't think it's that flattering.
It must not have been my good side.

Yep, I'm the cute little beanie baby looking thing with the x's.
The next appointment is May 4th.

May 4th (12 weeks) appointment went well. Mom was a little late but they still got her in quickly. They sent her home with a bunch of magazines and vitamins and prescriptions. I guess they usually do this at 12 weeks. Mom got to hear my heartbeat, which is pretty strong and about 150 beats per minute. She's gained a pound. That can't be my fault because I barely weigh an ounce yet. Her blood pressure is down a bit from the last two times, which was good news to her. The doctor talked about prenatal testing and options and how having Joseph made more testing available, which she doesn't want anyways.
The next appointment is June 1st.

Our June 1st (16 weeks) appointment went well. Mom gained 5 lbs! Where did those come from? Her blood pressure is down again. My heartbeat is strong, I am measuring right on and perfect with what's expected. Just a routine check up. Mom declined testing (screening and amniocentesis) again, the doctor was just double checking, though.
The next appointment is on the half way mark, 20 weeks! It will be on June 29th. They will do an ultrasound and Mom is working things out so Dad can come too. They still aren't sure whether they want to know if I am a boy or a girl.
What do you think? Do you want to know? Email me! Shall we put it to a vote?

June 29th- Everything looks perfect, I am measuring right on at 20 weeks 1 day, my vital parts are all there and working and the right size. I was very wiggly, the ultrasound thing must have tickled me. It was fun, big brother Samuel was there at the appointment but wasn't impressed by the whole ultrasound thing. He did like our doctor. Maybe he remembers him. I am currently breech, but a lot can change in 20 more weeks! I plan on plenty of somersaults. Maybe when Mom is trying to sleep.
The pictures aren't the best, but you can see a little of me, at least.
This one is of my face. The top of my head is to the right, with my chin pointing left. (like peek-a-boo, around a corner!) Brightest area (besides the skull) is my nasal passages... I think.

This one is of my foot. It looks like a LONG little triangle (surrounded by black), kind of toes pointing down, on the right side of the screen... Mom thinks this is how Nathanael's feet looked to her... big!

This one is of me sucking my thumb, or at least with my hand up by my face. You can see the top of my head and my fingers curled up... bright area is my nasal cavity... like above. Both hands are to the slight lower right of my head.

Oh, and you probably wanted to know whether I am a boy or a girl... guess what?
I'm SHY!
I had my legs crossed and the cord was in that area as well, so no luck on finding out.

July 27th- Everything is still right on track. I was measured and Doctor says I weigh about 1 1/2 lbs and right on for an average 24 week baby. I am also distending Mom's abdomen the right amount as well, though she thinks she is huge. However, he told Mom that she's gained a little much for this pregnancy, but just keep eating healthy and it should be fine. (she's only gained 3 lbs since last visit...) Mom's BP is fine, weight is fine, nothing else is going on. Boring, eh? One of those fast, routine, normal appointments that mean all is well.
Mom feels me move almost all day and all night now. Dad hasn't felt me move yet, but that's just because he hasn't tried.

August 28th- nothing new! Gestational Diabetes test in the next two weeks. I have no idea what Mom doesn't like about this test. I personally don't like the idea of her going without food that long. Don't they know I need her to eat so I'm not hungry? My heart rate is around 140 this week, I'm measuring right on for my dates, I'm moving lots and stretching so Mom knows the quarters are starting to get cramped, but I can still roll around with room to spare. Mom lost 2 lbs, so I guess my requests for ice cream aren't getting met. I weigh about 2 lbs, myself. Only 12 more weeks to go and I'll be HERE.
Though I might decide to show up before then. Or later. I haven't decided yet.
Mom and Dad think they have a few names in mind. Nothing firm yet. I am the first baby that they need to have names for a boy AND a girl... I feel so special. If you have any suggestions burning a hole in your brain, please share with them. I'm sure they will kind of listen, or maybe laugh at you in private. Or it might be the perfect name!!!

September 21st- again, nothing new. Things are progressing smoothly. Our doctor says that I am head down but definitely not ready to go yet, as I have not dropped and I'm not very low at all. Mom has gained about 3 lbs, and he says I'm probably about 3-4 lbs now too. 8 more weeks is all that's left til my due date! Again, the doctor has said that he would prefer to not let Mom go past her due date. So... no chance of my being born on Michael's birthday. Mom reminded him that she was this far along with Samuel when she first started coming to his office. He had a good laugh about that.
Appointments will now be 2 weeks apart til 36 weeks, when he will then start us on Non Stress tests like he did with Samuel, which just makes the appointment longer but I get to hear my own heartbeat. Very cool, or so Joseph says. He always liked it too. The doctor says he usually only does it with high risk patients, and while Mom is NOT high risk, he will treat her as such with having had so many children.
I am very very active, and am wondering why no one's emailed any ideas for my name when I'm born. I know it would help if I divulged whether I am a boy or girl, but this just gives you a chance to be more creative. Mom has no feeling either way... so... I'm surprising everyone! It's getting crowded in here... and I'm getting stronger!
Mom says she has never gone (on her own) before 39 weeks, so that kind of pinpoints when I'll be born... If I'm anything like my siblings, I will be born between November 8th and 15th.

October 3rd- not much new, Mom gained a little weight and had been very sick, so she is now contracting a LOT. The coughs set her off. She had a contraction while the Doctor was measuring how big I am. (he says around 4-5 lbs and maybe 16-17 inches, head down for sure!) He also says that there would be no reason to stop labor from here on out. Only 6 weeks left, wow. We set up appointments from now til the due date.

October 19th- kind of new and exciting stuff, but not really. Just different from all the other appointments. I had my first NST today. I was moving all over the place so they never really got a "great" reading on my heartrate, but it did do what it was supposed to. Even though Mom has been in and out of labor and contracting irregularly all week, she didn't have one contraction at the doctor's office. Odd. Mom gained a tiny bit of weight and her BP is up. They also tested for Group B strep, even though they will treat us for it either way because of past history. Only a few weeks left! Mom thinks she'll get more sleep after I'm born, hehe, we'll show her.
![]()
October 26th- a pretty normal appointment. Another NST. I wasn't as bouncy as last time, so they got to see my heartrate better. Doctor says everything looks good, though he doesn't expect me in the next week. Lots of contractions, Mom has felt very ill lately and ready to get me here, nothing to show for it yet though the doctor did not check for dilation yet. Blood pressure is up again, and Group B Strep test came back negative again. Not much longer! How long can I keep everyone in suspense? Mom was rereading what she wrote for Samuel's pregnancy page, to see what this doctor did, and she did ask that he not strip her membranes until AFTER the due date. Here is a link to Samuel's pregnancy page. 20 more days! (til D Day)

November 3rd- Good update. Everything looks great on the NST end... I moved lots and my heartrate is great. Then the doctor checked for dilation, etc, and he says we're "sitting on ready". His words, not mine or Mom's. We are at 3 1/2 and 85 percent effaced, with my head applied to the cervix... not engaged, but I'm not very far away from coming. The doctor says it's very possible for me to come before our next appointment... we'll see!

November 9th- baby coming tomorrow! Everything looks good but I am still dialated and still almost completely effaced, so, with as quick as Mom's labors are it could get dangerous as I am NOT engaged. So, induction on November 10th at 6 am! Let's get everything ready for me NOW!

Birth story for Timothy
David:
We left for the hospital after the friends who came to watch our older children
arrived. This was about 6:10 am. We got to the hospital about 6:25 am, and went
to labor and delivery. We then were sent back to registration. They knew we were
coming, we just had to make sure everything was done (since this was an
induction, I could do this) I was waddling and uncomfortable, but knowing that I
wasn't going to be able to move around for long, I didn't mind walking. I got
into our room and got into the beautiful hospital gown (not). They got all my
info, started the IV (just fluids) etc. around 7 am. Around 7:45 am my doctor
showed up, broke my water, and said to call before starting anything else.
Contractions didn't really get going, so they started IV induction nearer 8:30.
They checked me, I was still near a 4. Things got more intense, slowly,
contractions one on top of another by 9:20 or so, and I told them I was suddenly
feeling the need to push. I fought it... Tom preferred my method of focus this
time (usually squeezing all feeling out of his hand) of gripping the bedrail
instead... tried to relax... the nurse checked me, I was at a 6. I told her,
YES, I felt extreme pressure and I needed to push. She checked me again, 2
minutes later I was at a 9. They got the doctor there, and very soon afterwards
Timothy was born. I could tell he was pretty big, it felt so difficult to push!
(but a relief to do so!) As with my previous inductions, they put me on oxygen
towards the end there. Timothy was born at 9:44 am on November 10th, 2006. He
was 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 3/4 inches long.

Links
Lots of baby information, community links, due date calculator, playgroups, etc.
This is a site that shows week by week development with lots of great info for first time mom's or 7th time moms. You can see what I might look like this week with 3D ultrasound pictures.
update September- no more cool ultrasounds!! But still a good resource.
Wal-Mart's Baby Information and usually pretty helpful! Lots of tips, polls, timeline, shopping information (of course) and how I'm growing. I think she can do a wish list too. She doesn't do the whole registry thing. She says the only thing we need is a new high chair, and that's a long time from now. She was looking for a single stroller, but not anymore, ha-ha.
Not a favorite of Mom's, because they are a kind of competition to Parenthoodplace, our favorite, but they do have a great baby development calendar with illustrations.
