Richard
and I met in a sign language class at Saddleback Community College over
15 years ago. He has a much more colorful
version of the meeting . . . I’ll have to let him share it with you in
a later letter. As we shared this
same class, we became classmates, which turned into a friendship, as we
shared our likes and dislikes, our happiness and disappointments, our
successes and our not-so-good-days together and we found that our lives
wouldn’t be the same without each other and decided to bond our love in
a forever marriage. On June 1, 1991 we
were married in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Los
Angeles Temple, in Santa Monica, California for time and all eternity.
On August 28, 1992, our son Patrick Austin Carlile was born. We were overjoyed to be parents to a perfectly, wonderful, handsome, awesome son! Patrick will be 12 years old in August. He is our PRIDE! He is kind, loving, and very fun to be around! He wants to be everybody’s best friend 24/7. He is in 5th grade. Patrick enjoys visiting cousins, reading, creating with LEGO, swimming, playing Flag Football, and is an avid Harry Potter Fan. He is a great student and his teachers love having him in their class!
Our daughter, Savanna Lea Carlile was born 22
months later on June 20, 1994. We
were tickled to pink to be parents again, this time to a beautiful,
lovely, darling daughter. She is sweet,
loving, helpful, peacemaker making our home a piece of heaven. She is our JOY! She
will be 10 years old in June (double digits!!!)
She is in 3rd grade and loves school. Savanna
loves to play with her friends, taking care of Mac (our cat – who is
pregnant … anyone want a kitten?), read, go to the library, visit with
cousins, play soccer, sing, dance
and babysit.
She has been going to Activity Days (a goal setting program in
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for girls ages 8-11)
and absolutely loves it!
Savanna
and Patrick are both taking Polynesian Dance classes and they thoroughly
enjoy learning more about the Polynesian culture and performing. They are looking forward to performing at the Orange County
Fair this summer and also at the Halau’s Hoike. They
are also learning to play the piano and learning how to speak Spanish.
Sherri
works full time at the Orange County Department of Education in Special
Education as an office manager. She stays
busy with church as she is the Primary Chorister. (Strange
enough … she doesn’t know how to lead or read music, or carry a tune! She is having a great time, though! When she is not working,
driving the kids around, or cleaning house, you can find her borrowing
the neighbors’ kids to babysit, entertain, or just to play!
Richard
is a stay-at-home Dad as he has disabilities that keep him from being
able to work a full time job. He is there
for Patrick and Savanna as they come home from school and they get to
hang out with him during the summer! He
keeps the kids busy teaching them how to do their chores and to be
proud of a job well done!
